Details Responsibilities

  • As a key member of the wells team, you will work primarily on the planning and programming of drilling and workover activities;
  • Responsible for well design, preparation of detailed drilling and workover programmes, and cost estimating and cost control for wells daily operations;
  • Monitor and manage all phases of drilling activities, oversee and ensure full-integration and compliance of drilling contractor;
  • Participate in contracting drilling contractor and negotiation;
  • Work closely with geologist, purchasing, contractors;
  • Ensure full compliance of safety governance at site.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • 5 years of experience as a Drilling Engineer for a company that is an operator of Coal Bed Methane in China;
  • Sound knowledge and experience in petroleum, oil and gas field, CBM;
  • Understand well design in both horizontal and vertical drilling technology as well as facilities unit set up;
  • Strong team player and personal commitment;
  • Willing to travel throughout field in different provinces.

Details Responsibilities

  • Collect geological, drilling and production data to establish production data base for different CBM fields.
  • Select pump size, pump setting depth and design production string reasonably to optimize CBM vertical/SIS well production.
  • Work closely with Reservoir Engineers to perform numerical simulation studies, history match and forecast CBM well production.
  • Integrate production/reservoir practices and evaluate horizontal well options.
  • Prepare workover proposals. Supervise and coordinate production plan based on existing data.
  • Manage gas production of CBM wells on daily basis. Determine/adjust production system to realize production control, understand geological and engineering behavior of single phase and multiphase flow from multi layers.
  • Make production technology plan by resolving technical issues of producing wells to improve entire production system.
  • Improve well performance by screening artificial lift (i.e. ESP and Beam Pump).
  • Optimize production rates of connected wells by using Nodal and type curve analysis.
  • Evaluate formation damage and propose stimulation/fracturing treatments to reduce skin factor.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor or above, majored in petroleum/production engineering or CBM related with more than 10 years of experience.
  • Highly skilled in CBM production system optimization and well troubleshooting.
  • Experienced in CBM, shale gas and tight gas is preferred.
  • Business development/strategic analysis of short/medium/long term plans in E&P, risk analysis and economics evaluation.
  • Candidate having an overseas working experience is preferred.

  • Generate accurate reserves estimates for use in financial reporting to the SEC/PRMS/PRO and other regulatory bodies.
  • Monitoring of existing fields and optimization of production rates. Use analytical and empirical techniques to perform decline curve analysis, material balance modeling, and inflow/outflow analysis.
  • Conduct reservoir numerical simulation studies, static/dynamic modeling by using numerical simulators (Eclipse suites, CMG) and analytical modeling (Fekete FAST CBM) to determine optimal development plans for CBM multi layered reservoirs.
  • Analyze the economics and risk assessments of major development programs.
  • Work closely with E&P geologists, production engineers to perform risk analysis for reservoir properties. Successfully history match the production data, forecast it for future field optimization and financial reporting by using (CMG-GEM, Eclipse CBM module)
  • Utilize CBM software’s (CMG, FAST CBM and Eclipse) to identify appropriate production mode for potential development.
  • Monitor performance of surface production facilities and production processes, prepare recommendations for improvement in production operations and evaluate facilities expansion requirements. Monitor and review historical well performance, develop programs and recommendations to optimize off take rates, well bore utilization and recoveries.
  • Compile detailed engineering reports of studies performed such as Risk Analysis, Sensitivity Analysis, Financial Reports, and Reserve Reports.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor or above, majored in Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering, with 8-year of experience.
  • High level of engineering and geological comprehensive research abilities to solve complex reservoir technical issues.
  • Expert in reservoir numerical simulation software, such as CMG, ECL.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in analyzing complex geological formations, drilling measures, well completion and production behavior.
  • High level of professionalism, team work and coordination ability is required.
  • Full field reservoir modeling, history matching experience of a multi layered CBM field of any basin is preferred.

  • Familiar with relevant international standards and related pipeline calculations (calculation of pipe wall thickness, pipe stress, material selection and compilation of material specifications).
  • Expert in AUTO CAD and other commercial products such as FAST PIPER, PIPE SIM.
